Jillian Edelstein

UK-based Jillian Edelstein is a portrait and documentary photographer from South Africa who has captured moments of historical and human significance. A continual thread throughout Jillian’s career is her interest in people, their stories and how to interpret these narratives through her lens.

Starting as a press photographer in Johannesburg influenced Jillian’s raw and realistic style that translates a sense of humanism in her work. Jillian now works as a freelance photographer, allowing her to pursue personal projects ranging from celebrity portraiture to documenting life in her local London neighborhoods. Her contribution to the arts in Britain has led to the National Portrait Gallery collecting over one hundred of Jillian’s works into its permanent collection.
