AF CALIBRATION

If the optimal auto focus settings of the camera body are disturbed due to eg. impact damage, the auto focus system must be reset according to the manufacturer's specifications.

The camera body is tested using the production AF test equipment. Necessary calibrations and adjustments are made. These include mirror alignment, focusing screen alignment, and calibration of the AF sensor. In addition, the rear interface locking mechanism is upgraded to the latest version in order to secure a tight fit of the digital back / film magazine. A functional check of the body is made and firmware is checked and upgraded if necessary.

AUXILIARY SHUTTER DRIVE UNIT REPLACEMENT

The camera body is disassembled, the faulty drive unit is replaced and necessary adjustments are made. After re-assembly, a functional check of the body is made and firmware is checked and upgraded if necessary.

AUXILIARY SHUTTER REPLACEMENT

The camera body is disassembled, the faulty auxiliary shutter is replaced, and necessary adjustments are made. After re-assembly, a complete AF calibration is made.

CAMERA BODY CONTACT PIN REPLACEMENT

The camera body is disassembled and the front and rear contact pins are replaced. After re-assembly, a functional check of the body is made. The firmware version is checked and upgraded if necessary.

CCD / CMOS CLEANING

A CCD / CMOS cleaning includes a number of operations to ensure that the camera performance is in accordance with factory specifications – no matter the age of the camera. This is what we do:

Firstly, the IR-filter which protects the CCD / CMOS is removed. The position of the CCD / CMOS can then be measured and, if necessary, adjusted.

A focus calibration is followed by very careful cleaning of the CCD / CMOS with compressed air, cleaning fluid and tissues.

The unit is then mounted on a test bench. A test shot is made through an illuminated piece of opal glass mounted in the filter thread of the lens with the lens focus setting at infinity. The unprocessed RAW-file is inspected on a monitor to ensure that that there is no residue of grease, fluid or dust on the sensor.

A mounting seal is attached and another test shot is made and inspected. The IR-filter is now unwrapped, cleaned on both surfaces and mounted.

The camera then undergoes a full factory test to ensure that the camera still performs according to the factory specifications – no matter the age of the camera. If needed, extra calibrations will be done, or parts will be replaced to ensure correct performance. You will be contacted if the cost of such replacements makes the service charge exceed the current cost estimate limit.

DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING BOARD (DSP)

If any failure related to the Digital Back (DB) is reported, the DB is connected to a camera body and test shots are made to confirm the problem.

Subsequently, the DB is tested to check the functionality of the Printed Circuit Boards (PCB). Should any of these tests fail and this failure is isolated to the integrated Digital Signal Processing board (DSP), this part is exchanged.

After replacement of the defective part, the DB is checked again and upgraded with the latest firmware and hardware modifications (if applicable). The DB is then reassembled and a digital test program run to confirm its correct performance.

Finally, the IR-filter is removed and the position of the CCD / CMOS focus measured and adjusted. The CCD / CMOS is then re-calibrated, cleaned, gasket mounted, and the back tested for dust or marks before return.

EXPOSURE BUTTON REPLACEMENT

The camera grip is disassembled and the exposure switch is replaced. After re-assembly, a functional check of the body is made and firmware is checked and upgraded if necessary.

EXPOSURE UNIT REPLACEMENT (LENS)

The lens is disassembled and a new exposure unit is fitted. After re-assembly, the lens is focused and functionally tested.

EYE CUP REPLACEMENT

A new eye cup is fitted to the viewfinder.

FOCUS MECHANISM OVERHAUL (LENS)

The lens focus mechanism is disassembled and cleaned, and worn parts are replaced. After re-assembly, the lens is focused and functionally tested. This repair is mainly targeted for front focused lenses such as HC80, HC50/110 and HC120. The repair covers repair of wear & tear but does not cover impact-damaged lenses.

MAIN BOARD REPLACEMENT

The camera body is disassembled and the faulty main board is replaced. After re-assembly, the flash measurement system is calibrated as well as the AF system.

MIRROR DRIVE UNIT REPLACEMENT

The camera body is disassembled, the faulty drive unit is replaced, and necessary adjustments are made.

After re-assembly, a functional check of the body is made and firmware is checked and upgraded if necessary.

NO FAILURE FOUND

If Hasselblad, despite all efforts, is not able to verify the described (or any other) problem, the product will be returned without repair.

The customer will be informed about the NFF situation by the Hasselblad business partner with whom the customer has had dealings. The item will not be returned before all relevant testing has been carried out.

PIEZO CALIBRATION

The digital back is connected to a computer and a special test program is run where a number of test multi-shots are performed. During this process, the piezo-element’s movement of the CCD / CMOS is monitored and adjusted accordingly. Depending on the degree of the misalignment of the sensor, this procedure may take some time to complete.

After calibration of the CCD / CMOS and the cleaning of the IR-filter, the filter is remounted (or replaced if it has any scratches). For further details, please refer to the description of “CCD / CMOS cleaning”.

PIEZO EXCHANGE

A piezo-element exchange requires a total disassembly of the digital back and the replacement of the two piezo-elements in the aluminum frame.

Before reassembly of the digital back, additional hardware modifications are conducted if necessary to insure the best possible performance for the specific product.

After a piezo-element calibration and a CCD / CMOS-sensor calibration, the CCD / CMOS and the IR-filter are cleaned. The filter is then remounted (or replaced if it has any scratches). For further details, please refer to the descriptions for “piezo calibration” and “CCD / CMOS cleaning”.

Cost estimates are issued for all repairs where estimated cost is higher than the stated limit:

€ 700 (Camera backs and HxD cameras)
€ 400 (XPan, V System, H System body and lenses)
€ 500 (Scanners)

Cost estimates can be made on demand for lower cost amounts. Such estimates will be invoiced at € 85 each in addition to repair charges.
