For Austrian-based product photographer Günther Egger, detail is everything. In order to capture every last aspect of an object, he relies on the Hasselblad H6D-400c MS.

Boasting numerous awards, including “Photographer of the Year 2015” and “Photographer of the Year 2017” in the categories of product and fashion, Günther has a genuine passion for capturing all the finer details of what some might call “everyday products”. “In the daily lifetime, you pass things and products…but you don’t see the details, you don’t see the small signs on it, you don’t see the light reflection, you don’t see the real color,” explains Günther.

Fifteen years ago, Günther made the change to using Hasselblad for his work. In such time, he’s owned six Hasselblad cameras, updating to the newest product every three years while never parting with his Hasselblad 503CW and Hasselblad XPan cameras. He credits the Hasselblad Multi-Shot System with landing him his first ever worldwide order, which was for a wood flooring company. When the company asked for the best resolution on the market, Günther used the Hasselblad MS System to capture the natural look of the wood with high-quality resolution. “They [could] make eight pictures out of one picture and the resolution was still enough for the A4 print and for a perfect presentation in the online shop. I have been working for this company for the last eight years and they are still very happy with these pictures,” he explains.

“In product photography, it’s all about quality,” says Günther. And considering his long list of luxurious clientele, Günther cannot risk missing out on any details. Having used other brands in the past that posed problems when it came to color range and resolution, Günther affirms that there is much more quality when photographing with a system like the Hasselblad H6D-400c MS. Not only does multi-shot photography capture the highest possible image quality, but it delivers the most color accurate medium format images with true RGB colour data – exactly what Günther needs when he’s on set, shooting high-class automobiles, luxurious cosmetics, or lavish jewelry.

Discussing his love for photography, Günther states, “All my inspiration is coming from quality and details…To keep the eyes on the product, you have to show the product very real and strong.” As a product photographer, or product artist, Günther doesn’t want to just show an object; he wants to astonish the viewer, revealing colors and characteristics they never realized before.

Not only is Günther a loyal Hasselblad user, but he has also been a Hasselblad Master finalist five times out of the last eight years in the areas of fashion, architecture, and product photography. He is also one of the fifty-one European photographers who holds the title of Master Qualified European Photographers (MQEP). See more of Günther's work here.
