What made you become the photographer you are today?

I have become the photographer that I am today by consistently learning and trying new things. I really enjoy the blend of art and technology. These two things combined allow me to continuously learn new ways to interpret how I create my work.

What does the X System camera do for your photography?

The X System has been a really interesting development for me. Being able to see the direct effect of the camera controls on the sensor in real-time has opened up new a whole new level of ease in experimentation and manipulation of the scene, re-enforcing photography’s role in the blending of art and technology.

Tell us the story behind how you created your image.

I am working on an ongoing series based around beach life combining elements of street and landscape photography to create images that both document and interpret the culture surrounding beach life. Most of the images in this series are purposely taken in the harsh mid-day sun with an overexposed look and feel to them. This emphasizes the feeling of being on the beach and helps to minimize the distractions of the harsh shadows. I find that the overexposed look allows me to saturate certain colors without creating an unrealistic oversaturated look, letting me put the focus on the lifeguard stand (each customized through a particular design or paint scheme that makes them stand out) in its particular location along Miami Beach.
