Hasselblad Heroines shines a light on female photographers around the globe as they make their mark in what has been typically referred to as a male-dominated industry. Through these weekly spotlights, each Heroine shares their experiences, tips, and inspiration with their Hasselblad to fellow photographers.

Maria Svarbova

Maria Svarbova is an acclaimed international photographer based in Slovakia. After studying restoration and archeology, she chose and flourished in a photography career.

Maria’s distinctive style departs from traditional portraiture and focuses on experimentation with space, color, and atmosphere. Taking an interest in Socialist era architecture and public spaces, Maria transforms each scene with a modern freshness that highlights the depth and range of her creative palette.

The recipient of several prestigious awards, including 2018 Hasselblad Master, Maria's solo and group exhibitions have been featured in Vogue, Forbes, The Guardian, and publications around the world.

Kristen Marie Parker

Kristen Marie Parker is a wedding photographer based in Seattle, Washington.

Kristen feels there is an inner drive to connect with those around her, seeing them for as they are rather than what others want them to be. Kristen has translated that into her photography, documenting people and their interactions to equal what they represent and showcasing the honesty and quiet moments between people.

Kristen has been featured in The New York Times, OnceWed, Green Wedding Shoes, Junebug Weddings, Style Me Pretty, 100 Layer Cake and Rangefinder Magazine. She was named Rangefinder Rising Star of Wedding Photography in 2015.

Kamilla Hanapova

Kamilla Hanapova is photographer based in St. Petersburg, Russia. Specializing in portrait, beauty and architecture photography, Kamilla is a 2018 Hasselblad Master.

Kamilla always tries to say something, to express herself, to show ordinary things from a new point of view so that people can view them differently and open up a new way of thinking. She aspires to create her own reality according to how she personally sees it or how she would like reality to be.

"You always have to try something new, try something that you are afraid of...I worked only in studio and I was terrified to go outside and take photos of nature or architecture because I was afraid to see a bad result...and now, I'm a Hasselblad Master in architecture photography."

Always in search of new techniques and ways to process images, Kamilla loves to change and connect various techniques in her work.

Anna Devís

Anna Devís, of the creative duo Daniel Rueda & Anna Devís, is a trained architect focusing on creative photography. Living in Valencia, Spain, Anna uses her architectural background to tell stories through fun and surprising images that are far from conventional architecture photography. Traveling the world in search of the quirkiest buildings, Anna & Daniel use these facades as their canvases.

The duo's unique and unmistakable style has led them to work with brands such as Netflix, Coca-Cola, Disney, among others. In addition, their work has illustrated festival posters, book covers and has been published in numerous international magazines such as Surface Mag, The New York Times Style, Marie Claire, Glamor and El País.

Cooper & Gorfer

Cooper & Gorfer comprises the artists Sarah Cooper and Nina Gorfer based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Their work focuses on the female aspects of cultural identity. Based on the stories and lives of the women they meet and collaborated with, Cooper & Gorfer explore issues of memory, migration, dislocation, and the malleability of identity.

Cooper & Gorfer have had several solo exhibitions, among others, at Fotografiska Stockholm, Hasselblad Center Gothenburg, Kulturhuset Stockholm, Museum Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt and the National Museum of Photography Copenhagen. They have been awarded the German Photo Book Award 2018, and are Hasselblad Ambassadors.

Tina Signesdottir Hult

Tina Signesdottir Hult is an internationally recognized Art photographer located in Norway. Tina has many awards and honors behind her, including the title of 2018 Hasselblad Master.

Specializing in fine art, portraits and conceptual themes, Tina is self-taught and driven by a great passion. When shooting, she is 100 percent present in the moment and finds it most important to express herself, communicate, and create emotions in her work. She never uses a flash, only natural lighting as it provides a sensitivity and feeling you don’t get with artificial lighting.

"As I grew as a person, my inspiration changed. Today I find inspiration more in myself, and life and nature, and all the beauty in it."

Shelby Knick

Shelby Knick is one of the few female adventure and automotive photographers who has climbed the ranks in an almost exclusively male dominated world.

She graduated from one of the top art and fashion universities in the world at the University of the Arts London, including both colleges of Central St. Martins and The London College of Fashion.

She has shot all over the world from Monaco to Bangkok and everywhere in between. Shelby has chased superyachts in the Mediterranean Sea, airboats in South Florida, quads in the Saharan Desert, motorcycles through France, and classic cars in Cuba.

Pei Ketron

Pei Ketron is a photographer, educator, speaker, and traveler based in San Francisco, California.

After a decade teaching special education in the public school system, Pei now teaches photography classes privately and through companies such as Creative Live, the Image Flow, and the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. Pei specializes in travel and commercial photography in San Francisco and worldwide.

"What I focus on is creating work that I love, that I feel inspired by, that I want to be out there creating. And, I'm just going to work as hard as possible."
