Stolen equipment handling

General

Hasselblad registers all equipment which is reported stolen in a central database. Hasselblad entities and entities in the Hasselblad distribution network will share this and other available information on stolen equipment with the police and insurance companies.

Hasselblad entities and entities in the Hasselblad distribution network cannot be expected to act on the behalf of the police or the insurance company, in the attempt to arrest thieves or re-possess stolen equipment.

Registration

Corporate Technical Support registers equipment as stolen in our central serial number database. Only information verified by the local Hasselblad partner is registered. The following information is registered: Serial number, product type, shipping date from factory, name of Hasselblad partner to whom the equipment was shipped.

Provision of information

Corporate Technical Support will provide the above mentioned information to any Hasselblad partner who asks for it.

Individuals possessing stolen equipment

Hasselblad entities and entities in the Hasselblad distribution network cannot be held liable for financial loss due to purchase of stolen equipment. Neither can Hasselblad entities and entities in the Hasselblad distribution network be held ethically liable for such losses or other losses related to the stolen equipment.

Any individual who chooses to purchase Hasselblad equipment (new or second hand) from parties not belonging to the Hasselblad distribution network should act with discretion and verify that the equipment is not stolen.

Service and support on stolen equipment

Hasselblad entities and entities in the Hasselblad distribution network will not provide service and support on equipment which is reported stolen.

Stolen equipment which comes into the possession of a Hasselblad entity will remain there, and Hasselblad will contact the Hasselblad partner to whom the equipment originally was shipped, to agree next step.

Cancellation of “stolen” registration

Stolen equipment is the property of the insurance company, once the insurance claim has been paid out to the equipment owner. Cancellation of the “stolen” registration of equipment can therefore only be done in agreement with the insurance company in question.

Individuals who possess equipment which has been reported stolen must therefore contact the insurance company for a written confirmation that there are no claims on the equipment. Only after such documentation is presented can Hasselblad entities and entities in the Hasselblad distribution network provide service and support on the equipment in question.

Hasselblad entities and entities in the Hasselblad distribution network will, upon request from the above mentioned individual, to the extent possible catalyze the contact between the above mentioned individual and the insurance company.
