I was born in Cagliari, Italy in December 1966. I had never thought about photography as my profession and i never had a camera when I was small kid. The very first time I remember taking a photograph was when my father Mario asked me to have the entire family photographed at the beach, I took the shot!. Of course I was included in the previous one while he wasn't. I was only 10 or 11 years old then, and i felt like I did something important. I didn't take anymore pictures for years after. My interests at the time were focused on tennis, and I knew everything about Bjorn Borg and Jimmy Connors, I played it then like I do today. It is only when I was under the military service that i got into photography. That kind of life bored me to death and I was almost forced to pick some side interests. Obviously my parents were against that career and the more i went deep on getting involved the more they were worried. I left the military life at age 20, I dropped out of university at age 22. I studied photography for few years in Cagliari, and when I moved to New York in 1995 I was 27 already, with no english and no particular experience in high-end photography. Now that was a hard. And it took long before I had my first chance in photography which was given to me by Alice Rose George who was the picture director at Details Magazine. I worked for that magazine for about a year, so it was a small-big deal, depending from which angle you're looking at it. I started my career taking editorial photographs in New York in mid 90's. I continued to do so for other magazines and various clients in the design and advertising field. After years in New York I realized that my parents where too far away, and I wanted to be closer. I then started to go back to Italy frequently and in one those days I met Sebastiana, It was 2004. It was good to be in Italy, we bought a house 10 minutes away from the Poetto Beach in Cagliari in 2006. We married in 2007 in center Sardinia. I now travel to New York many times a year. I travel a lot in general. It is here that I had a newer attraction, a newer research for a pristine light, and an opening for colors and clear air. I grew up in the Mediterranean, in a beautiful island. I find places around the world to photograph, I look for lines and color and light that go along with my thoughts about photography.
