I have been a full time professional since 1968. I first started shooting as a stringer for AP, UPI and covering assignements for Esquire and later other magazines in 1968. I apprenticed in the early 1970's under a master commercial photographer for a year and a half. After a year and a half I worked for the largest ad agency in the southern US for another year and a half. I then moved to another large ad agency as head of the photo, film and video department where I stayed for nine years. I founded my independent studio in 1984 and continue to operate the studio.
My work is 100% commercial with adverting and architectural being the main segments.
I addition to the commercial work my passion is documentary photography which up to this point is 100% B&W film. I am now in the process of moving in part to digital using a CFV 39 back along with my film. I expect the digital medium format to enhance my commercial work as well. I currently have a show, "Vanishing Apalachia" touring US museums and have started part B of the show which will open in three to four years.
