My work explores the interface between true wilderness and the modified landscapes of modern life; the edge of the wild, as well as the interior landscape of memory, emotion, and relationship. My background as a nature photographer and publisher in the Canadian Rockies has given me a deep appreciation for wilderness and the importance of the interface between history, place, and culture. I manage Harmon Gallery in Banff which preserves and displays the historical photography of my grandfather, Byron Harmon, who was a pioneer photographer in the Canadian Rockies in the early twentieth century.
